The First Aid specialization governs immediate response to traumatic injuries as well as the entire treatment of minor injuries.
Action | Apply first aid |
---|---|
Proficiency and specialization | Medicine (First Aid) |
Base difficulty | Highest severity level of any injury. This difficulty is increased by +2 if a character is attempting to apply first aid to themselves. |
Base span | 10 minutes |
Base attention | |
Equipment | A first aid kit (standard equipment) A fully equipped doctor's office or hospital room (superior equipment) |
Effect | Reduce blood loss to the rate of an injury of one less severity. For each additional skill success, reduce blood loss by one level further. If blood loss would be reduced to that of a level 0 injury, blood loss is stopped completely. This removes minor injuries. This does not remove more severe injuries or any other effects from them. If a new injury is sustained, the effect of any previous first aid is removed. |
Critical failure | Increase blood loss to the rate of an injury of one more severity. |
Can be used as a complex action | No. Further applications of first aid can only further reduce the blood loss of an injury by exceeding the original number of skill successes. |
