A character's physical health is tracked by a blood count and any injuries.
Blood count starts at 10 and can be reduced by injuries. A character whose blood count reaches 0 is dead.
Injuries are recorded by severity and location.

If an injury would have a severity level over 4, it is said to be beyond lethal. In addition to the effects of a lethal injury, each level of severity above 4 immediately reduces blood count by 4.
A character only records one injury to each location. If a character would receive an injury to a location already injured, the existing injury is instead increased in severity by the new injury's severity minus 1. (Minor injuries never increase the severity of an existing injury.)
The most immediate threat from any injury is blood loss. To inhibit this, a character must apply first aid.
Injuries more severe than minor may heal over time, but critical or lethal injuries require surgery to avoid permanent penalties. Nursing assists the natural healing of injuries.
